Here’s how to tell if you’re getting good deals on golf carts. Part 1

Here’s how to tell if you’re getting good deals on golf carts.

It happened again this past Saturday at our Ponte Vedra / Nocatee store. Its not unusual for this to happen really. You see I own a golf cart dealership in North Florida, now with two locations. We hear this every week from some well intentioned people who thought or felt that they were getting a good deal on a golf cart just to discover after words that they had been taken advantage of. Some unintentional, but most of them down right deceived! Continue reading

Add Two More Golf Cart Battery Chargers to The List of The Severely Injured.

Surge Protectors Are a Must For Every Golf Cart Battery Charger

I wrote this blog just a short while ago and we just had an electrical thunderstorm the other day. As of today we have taken in two golf cart battery chargers that “just don’t work” and diagnosed the failures to be a result of the lightening storms. Hence, I thought I would re post this blog. Neither customer with the "injured" chargers had a surge protector on the power circuit for their battery chargers.

We sell a couple of different ones for around forty bucks. Folks, that’s a whole lot cheaper then a two hundred dollar repair or worse yet, three hundred and fifty dollars for a new golf cart battery charger. Again, I am trying to help you. There's not a month that goes by without us repairing damaged golf cart battery chargers. Therefor its worth repeating. Surge protector, surge protector, surge protector, surge protector,… Buy one of ours or one of theirs, however and from whomever you choose, just be sure to purchase a  correct surge protector and protect the investment of your golf cart battery charger from those power surges. Now here’s the original blog I posted recently. Continue reading

You Can’t Place Very Many Extra Electrical Accessories On Gas Golf Carts

You Can’t Place Very Many Extra Electrical Accessories On Gas Golf Carts

You can’t place very much electrical demands on the original small cranking battery of  gas golf carts. The small battery and generator were just not designed to accommodate very many electrical devices. We just came to the pain staking realization to this fact. Nothing like the school of hard knocks to teach us something that we already know. As many years we have been in the dc electrical rotating industry, you would think I would have known better. You can’t add very many electrical demands to a system that was originally designed to start the engine and power up head and tail lights. That is all about the battery and starter generator was designed to handle. Continue reading

I own a golf cart dealership located in North Florida. We sell and service golf carts, both electric and gas powered. There are far more electric powered golf carts than there are gas. I would say we see about a hundred electric carts to every gas powered in our service department. And right along with every electric golf cart is the golf cart’s battery charger. We have walk-ins every week bringing us  their chargers for us to diagnose.

Sometimes the charger is just fine indicating that there is a problem on the golf cart which we then schedule for pickup. However, the majority of the time the initial plug in test indicates some sort of failure with the battery charger. Continue reading
